One of Viver’s most cherished and symbolic places, Cuevas del Sargal, El Sargal Caves, is a great destination for nature lovers who enjoy hiking in the countryside. It’s certainly a rural must-visit when in the province of Castellón.

Perched on the banks of river Palancia, El Sargal consists of a group of small rocky caves that were inhabited by people as long ago as the Upper Palaeolithic to the Neolithic Period. See if you can spot the ancient cave drawings that are still there today. Now, you can visit the prehistoric site easily thanks to steps dug out of the rock that lead you there.

Take a refreshing dip in the river to cool off and then set up camp at one of the picnic benches in the recreational area, which includes paella cooking and barbecue facilities.
