Named a UNESCO Creative City of Music, Llíria boasts many historic tourist attractions such as the Medieval Wall, the Town Hall and the ancient settlement of Castellet de Bernabé. Located in the province of Valencia, this charming town is well worth a visit.
Castellet de Bernabé is an old Iberian settlement thought to have been inhabited between the 2nd and 4th century B.C. Forming part of Edeta, the capital of the Roman colony of Edetania, it consists of a walled hamlet on top of a hill in the heart of the stunning Serra Calderona Natural Park.
By requesting access or arranging a guided tour, you’ll be able to see in person how Castellet de Bernabé comprises two distinct areas. The aristocratic family residence of the land owners forms one part, and in the other, you’ll come across the living quarters for the rest of the hamlet and places where villagers would undergo agricultural work. This would have included wine, olive oil and flour production and the remains of warehouses where grain was stored are also present. In Llíria’s Archeological Museum, you’ll find lots of original artefacts from Castellet de Bernabé. Plan a trip to Llíria for an authentic journey through ancient history and be pleasantly surprised by what this town has to offer.
