Iglesia del Convento del Carmen, El Convento del Carmen Church, in Requena in the province of Valencia, is a place of worship that dates back to the 13th century. The church was part of the Discalced Carmelites Royal Convent whose foundation is attributed to Alfonso de la Cerda.
Built of limestone in the Baroque and Gothic style, El Convento del Carmen Church has one nave and seven side chapels. The main façade is in the Neoclassical style. Inside, the marble altar hosts a wooden sculpture of Virgen del Carmen. Other features of interest are the ceramic tiles on the walls and the depiction of the Transfiguración over the high altar. Take advantage of your visit to this church in Requena to explore the impressive underground Requena Caves and, of course, enjoy all the wine tourism activities that the town has to offer.
