Climb up the Stations of the Cross to the chapel to enjoy beautiful vistas over Serra.

San José y la Cruz chapel is a simple building in Serra that sits at the top of the Stations of the Cross. Built in 1894, this is a small chapel with a gable roof, a white façade and a gable in the apse.

Next to the chapel, you will see 9th century La Ermita Tower, which was once part of Serra Castle’s defence system. While you are at the top, make the most of your time by breathing in the beautiful views over Serra and the scenery enveloping it.

To get to Serra chapel, you will first have to walk the Stations of the Cross. We recommend taking your time, enjoying the walk and looking at everything there is to see. Serra’s Stations of the Cross is unique in that it has staggered terraces. The slope is made easier to climb with red-toned stone embankments and the terraces have the fourteen stations of the Via Crucis. Stop to take a look at the small ceramic altarpieces housed inside the white chapels, which are located along the walk and imitate the Gothic style.

With the sunshine beaming down on you and the incredible views, climbing up to the chapel is the perfect Sunday activity. We’ll see you in Serra.
