During the first week of September, the town of Càrcer moves to the beat of marching bands. Do you want to be part of one of Càrcer’s most exciting events?

Moros i Cristians de Càrcer, the Moors and Christians Festival in Càrcer, is held in the first week of September. The event sees live music, dressing up and merriment fill the streets - an irresistible combination that you can’t miss seeing in person.

Located in the county of La Ribera Alta, the pretty town is flooded with activity during the festival. In addition to the traditional street parades called correcasals and cercaviles, you can expect to see an impressive fireworks display. Another fun event during the festival you don’t want to miss is the cara a cara de charangas, the energetic live music will get you up and dancing in no time. And you won’t go hungry if you manage to get involved in the germanor or hermandad communal meals, after which you can go for a boogie thanks to the organised outdoor music in the evening.

Every year, the Moors and Christians Festival in Càrcer has a different leader, which alternates between the two sides. And the comparsas are responsible for making sure everyone has a great time.

What’s more, this festival in Càrcer celebrates the six month mark, or mig any, before the famous Fallas festival. So put the Moors and Christians Festival in your diary and head to Càrcer!
